Can anyone please shed some light on the variations of code readers that are available on the market these days. I've owned an Octy vRS for over a year now and have take it to my local garage about 4 times for diagnostics. I'm interested in having my own bit of kit to do this, however i'm a complete novice when it comes to this sort of equipment. I've seen code readers range from £20 on eBay, all the way to over £200 i.e. RossTech etc. Ideally I would like something that will just display engine fault codes and be able to perform a reset. I'm not particularly interested in the most up to date kit, just something that will detect general engine faults. Am I wasting my time by looking at the cheap readers on eBay? Or will they actually do what they say they should? Any advice is much appreciated.
