ESP Warning Light - Octavia TDI

Featured Replies

Hi, I am new, so hello everyone. Hope you can help.

I have an issue with a 4 year year old Octavia sport TDI where the ESP warning light stays on permanently. The retailer, Withams in Walton on Thames, has advised that the main ABS control unit needs replacing at £1,250 just for the part! Labour & VAT will take it to approx £1,600. I am trying to get some goodwill from Skoda UK but they are really dragging their heels, we are of to France in the Octavia on 27th July so need it sorted, any advice?

Cheers,

If they've already done computer diagnostics (which one would assume they have), ask them for the fault codes that have led them to that conclusion and post them here.

I have the same issue with mine and was also advised I need a new ABS ECU. The ABS works fine however, so it can wait a little bit.

Thats the least of my trouble at the moment however, As my other post says I'm sitting waiting on the AA to come to my aid.

Mobile internet works wonders when you stick with nowt else to do.

Back to the ABS ECU, I'm going to get the part number of the ECU to see if there are any companies who repair them.

I'm struggling to follow your logic swil00 - if the ABS is functioning correctly, what makes them/you think that the ABS control unit needs replacing?

At the OP - as above, get the results of the diagnostic tests posted up here and people will be able to advise further. Or enquire about someone near to you running a VAG-COM scan to see what issues are flagged. Would you please enter some rough geographical information in your profile, as this helps people to recommend services near to you, that you may find helpful.

Hi

If the warning light goes out, the ESP system is fully functional again.

2. If the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, the warning light

comes on after switching on the ignition. The warning light must go out

after driving a short distance.
