Soon to be vRS owner!

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'm hopefully going to be the owner of a vRS in the next few days,

I have a few questions though,

The car I'm looking at is a 2006 petrol vRS, full history, 40k miles etc, race blue, usual extra's incl 18'' zenith's,

Is there anything to really look out for when buying one?

I plan on getting an RNS510 sat nav unit immediately on ebay and retrofit, I've done this on my previous mk5 Gti golf so I presume the octavia is also as simple?

I also want to get a set of HID lights from hids4u, I've read that these are simple to fit and don't cause any problems with the cars electronics, could somebody add a link to the one's I need?

I would probably initially lower the car with a view to changing to Koni FSD's at a later stage, what's the best route to go with springs? Which brand and what measurement drop?

Any other useful information I should know?

Thanks,

Good choice. Can't help you with the mods info though, sorry. I'm sure someone else on here can.

The eibach pro spring kit is the one often used with FSD's, it will give you about 20mm drop. Unless you are planning on doing this yourself, I'd wait and do springs and shocks at the same time. That way you only have one set of labour charges and one alignment to pay for!

You will need the hids4u ultimate kit for H7 bulbs. I went for the anti-glare on my current Leon which costs about £170. 5000k bulbs give the most realistic "xenon" look.

Do the hid kits still work with the auto light function?

Yes but they do take about 30 seconds to work upto their natural light

Silver ones are nicer

Nice one over on VAGdrivers ;)
