Lower than -20mm ??

Featured Replies

Hi guys, im just wondering if anyone has lowered an octy mk1 vrs by more than -20mm ??. mine is lowered -20mm with koni springs and sits on 18" boss redline rims. but im not really happy with the way it looks. i think it sits too high.

so im thinking of 1 of 2 things.

1: go back down to a 17" rim and get a shorter spring kit ( if possible )

2: go with 225/35/18 tyres instead of 225/40/18 and "trim" the current springs.

Im not keen on trimming the springs to get the look i want but im running out of ideas. so any advice would be most welcome.

Get coilovers and drop it on its ****

I bought coilovers and stuck them on, just for the improvement in damping and body roll.

When I stuck them on I didn't want to go too low so I put them about half way up their range of adjustment and it was lower than your car.

I can't imagine that at maximum lowering there would be any room for the wheels to move anywhere...

With coilovers you can go as low as you want, but with the state of our roads & with all the speed humps it depends on how you value your sump:O

yep agree with above i wouldnt drop more than 20mm you will rip your sump out trust me i know:O

Cheers guys didnt really consider adjustable coilovers because i thought they was too expensive..... but ive found a set on flea-bay for £479.99.

Get some Weitec Hicon GT's on there mate. £488 from any VAG tuning company (DPM, Jabba etc.).

I fitted mine this weekend, and they are bloody amazing!! I've got them set pretty high for now, and it's probably the same height as your car. I'm going to let them settle for a month before I drop it more.

Handling is immense! I'm fairly sure I can do 200mph around every roundabout! No nose dive under braking, no rocking as I accelerate hard. The ride is also far better than I ever imagined. It's harder than standard, but not uncomfortable at all. I did 240 miles yesterday no problem.

You need some coilovers! Nice car BTW, looks good on those wheels.

You won't have a problem if you go lower than 20mm, my car is lowered 40 mm and it works just fine.
