please give me some idea whats wrong with my windscreen wipers, they will not cancel, so i'm driving everywhere with the windscreen wipers going:confused:

its not the stalk (i think) as the MFA still works, and the rear wiper still works,

any ideas.

Erm a search will show you wiper motor or relay or something else.

Since they don't stop at all, then I'd say it's the motor and if you have not put a new linkage on, you might as well do that at the same time too.

Had a similar problem that turned out to be the switch on the back of the wiper motor assy which stops the motor at the PARK position. Because the mechanism was faulty the motor would over-run the PARK position and keep running. I replaced mine with a motor from an old Mk 3 golf I had lying around

i did get some very funny looks while parked up in the traffic coming home with the sun beating down, and me with the windscreen wipers on:O

stripped the car down a bit, and removed relay number 81, this stopped the wipers moving, put a new relay in and the wipers started up again:mad: so have taken the relay out altogether, and just found out that the relay also makes the indicators work (balls)

so it looks like its a wipermotor change ASAP?? or can it be anything else???

Before you go buying anything, try unplugging the rear wiper motor first and see if that stops the front ones.

getting REALLY annoyed:mad: i have borrowed a 100% working front wiper motor/linkages, put it into my car and i still have the same problem, i also unplugged the rear wiper and still the front wipers are on all the time.

i borrowed a fully functional stalk to see if its that's knackered, but how the hell do you get the old one off??

PLEASE HELP.

Before you start taking things apart get a fault code scan done with somebody who has VAG-COM.

To get to the stalk the airbag and steering wheel have to come out.

Also have you tried the wiper relay as this is cheap and easy to replace?
