Rattling and split hose

Featured Replies

I've replaced the wishbones and bottom balljoints (found the balljoints while looking for what was rattling) - car drives better, but still rattles:mad:. So tonight I was peering in the engine when I noticed the plastic engine cover was loose, so I took it off noticed some oil and found a split Y shaped breather hose:mad::mad:. I've ordered one off fleabay but in the meantime I filled the hole with a bit of silicone. I also found that the piece of garden hose wedging up my radiator had squashed so replaced that with a tougher heat proof version. So far looking for this rattle has found a lot of other things so I suppose its been helpful. I'll test out the new rad mount hose tomorrow:)

It's very common for the breather hose to fail!

The one under the manifold has already been fixed (bodged) but that made the engine light come on and made a noise, I wouldn't have known about this one without the annoying rattle making me look at anything loose. Makes you wonder about the quality of hose.
