Refitting headlight adjuster motor

Featured Replies

I've got to fit a new one later this week as one of mine has stopped working completely (other one was juddering but hoping some WD40 will cure it)

Does anyone know if the motors come set in the "all the way up position" to start off with, as thats what position the lights are in at the moment

Erm can't remember, but it doesn't matter anyway. As soon as you turn the lights on it'll go to where the in-car knob tells it to anyway.

Be really careful when your screwing the new motor back in, as the plastic is super soft and the thread strips so easily. But make sure the screw holding the adjuster arm down is fully acrewed in, otherwise your headlights will vibrate and drive you mad!

I found WD40 was only a short term fix, and never lasted long.

Yeah I had no end of joy last night with the adjuster arms. It was easy to get the motors out but refitting them and getting those adjuster arms in place was a P.I.T.A.

I found for future ref that you can tighten up the torx screw on the adjuster arm by poking a torx key through one of the other screwholes on the motor, that makes it a bit easier.
