No Speedo/ Fuel Guage, Rev Counter or Temp

Featured Replies

Hiya all the dials on the instrument panel have died - 0 revs 0 speed etc etc. The lights still work oil and and stuff but no movement from the actual dials.

Just stopped all of a sudden

I have what seems to be a ageing Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi S Reg - 134,000 miles

Everything else runs sweet but whats with the dials.

Could it be a fuse??? Or will this cost real money???

Any help would be really useful.

It does happen, there is a thread on it here:

Octavia Dash

As far as I can tell there is no fix apart from a new dash panel at £100s.

check fuses aswell befor forking out

It wont be a fuse, dash failure on the octy mk1 is very common. You can get the current cluster repaired, it will cost you about £150 to do so. Alternatively and rather oddly removing a fuse from the fuse box will get the instruments working again as a temp fix but with a few caveats to be aware of. 1) the rev counter will not zero when you turn off the engine, 2) the mileage/trip display will blank, 3) all trip memory data is lost, 4) the clock needs to be reset everytime.

Thanks for all your replies - gonna check through all the fuses first I think.

I've just had to go out in it and everything is running fine, on the instrument cluster I have all the LCD trips stuff working the trip computer and mileage is still fine, all indicator lights etc the only four things that don't work are the four gauges - temp, fuel, speedo, and rev counter? Does this help anyone to decide if the cluster is goosed or not.

Interestingly I read the thread fordfan posted and decided to have a go at pulling fuse 15 to see if that worked - and low and behold before I got chance I started it and the panel works again!!!! I hate intermittent faults - could this be just a flook or do we reckon it will go again

It is possible to replace it with a second hand dash pod.

Yes it will go again, it will be on and off for a while and then it will go completely and never come back again.

Superb again guys although not so good that it will eventually die on me. So if I really need a new one or second hand one where is the best place to source them?

Had a mooch round Google but nothing jumps out maybe I'm using the wrong search string. Also are they easy enough to fit - are they plug and go?

They crop up on ebay sometimes, but if you change the cluster you need 2 bits of information otherwise you will get nowhere fast. What you will need if the 4 digit SKC for each cluster (your current one, and the replacement). If neither of these are available it will make changing the cluster very difficult but not impossible with the right software. Best bet is to get the one you have fixed, it doesnt cost much to do, but your car will be unusable whilst its being fixed.

thanks for that again - is there a good repair place that does this kind of work which BriSkoda folks recommend?
