Just wondering what an average non dealer price would be for a cam belt change (water pump, tensioner etc)?

Cheapest quote so far = £300.

£300 is a fair price to be honest. Had my done through a friend so all I paid was "mates rates" and the parts so it was a little cheaper than that.. But should anything go wrong, I dunno how long we'll stay friends for, lol

£300 sounds reasonable, had mine done last week £189 for labour & £145 for parts. You may find that your quote does not include the tensioner damper, this part is about £80 and is best replaced.

BTW my last cambelt was done 5 years ago, but car has only done 15000 miles since then, so 10 years old two belts and 45000 miles.

They are a small VW specialist but as most parts on my Octavia say VW I don't suppose it makes much difference! They said that they would change everything thats recommended so I think I'll go for it.
