No Brake Lights

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Helping a friend out with this one - have searched the forum and could see no definitive answer.

I'm getting the feeling that the answer to all brake lights gone (with no fuse or bulb problems) means the brake switch needs replacing - am I right?

Thanks for the help,

Tony

Hi, If the vehicle is a Fabia its v common , not so common on octavia though.

If you have access to vagcom I think that will tell you if the switch is working (maybe not log a fault, but the info is there - somewhere).

Pull plug off switch, bridge connection with paper clip, if lights come on, it's the switch.

oh, and check the switch has been clipped in properly too.

Are you kidding, iirc it's common across the four VAG brands. :D:D

yeh so common had to do mine 2 weeks after i got it,think the old one was purple. swaped it out for a green one.

If it is the purple one there should be a black rod sticking out of it and the reason mine wasn't working was cause the rod can be pushed in to far apparently its adjustable says the dealer. you could try pulling the rod out a bit and see if it works

This has just happened to mine tonight, no fuse problems or bulb problems, and the 3rd high level light is also off. Does anyone have a picture of what I'm looking for and/or a part number?

Thanks in advance.

Dave.

most common one is a 1C0 945 511 A RDW £7.66 plus vat, i work for tps which does all 4 vag brands and to be fair out of them all the octavia seems to suffer the least. golfs are especially bad

The switch is located near the top of the brake pedal, so get your head into the drivers footwell, twist to unclip the switch and then read the number off it :-) Can't help with a part number, but I suspect a quick search on here would give you the info you need. iirc the new switches are purple plungers.

Perfect, all sorted, price was bang on too! Thanks for the help people! :)

no problem!
