Leaking wiper water bottle

Featured Replies

The wiper water bottle on my 1999 Felicia have had a slight leak

for a few years didn't think anything of it as what harm can it do.

Wrong, now that I noticed some corrosion under the bottle Im

quite peed with myself as this is the first bit of rust I have on my

car ( she lives in Malta) and I could have avoided this by replacing

the thing..

My question is has anybody come across this before.

You need to worry when it goes like mine did and corroded all up the inner wing and the only thing holding it at the top is rust that takes a little prod to go through :D

Slight leaking from the top cap seems normal if the bottle is filled to the top. The washer bottles are cheap enough anyway. Just check it's not anything else first like a dislodged pipe or a leaky pump.

The more common thing to leak is probably the coolant bottles as they're under pressure.

Thanks for your reply, the coolant bottle is ok as the water leak is clear

and the rust is under the washer bottle, I will have a closer look at the water

pump before I buy a new washer bottle. One thing I noticed though that it only

leaked if I filled it right up but not from the top of that Im sure..

Mine also resulted in a hole when I proded with the screw driver, I would have

thought the heat from the engine would have dried any trapped water. I bought

the Felicia new in July 1999 and have had ten years of trouble free motoring and

have no plans for selling it, so now it have to go in for it's first bit of welding.

Here's a pic of the Felly and my weekend toy.
