Pioneer wiring help purleeease.

Featured Replies

OK - I give up. I've wired this thing up so it dies when the key is removed, but does it turn on again when I turn the key? NOOOO! :grumpy: I'm sure something obvious is missing but the wiring on this pioneer seems different to my Kenny. The yellow wire kind of splits in two and there's some chunky black box and a fuse on it.

So, what do I attach to where to make it keep its memory? At the moment I think I've got the reds/yellows reversed, and my amp RCA remote and aerial booster power going into the HU remote plug.

Anyone tell me once and for all how it "should" be wired in.

Finally, how the hell do I shove the thing in? :naughty: I mean, there's so much cr4p on the back of this thing I can't lock it in place, and about 1.5" sticks out (crime risk here! )

I dont know about the first bit mate, but to be honest unless the unit is secured via a bolt through bulk head then the crime risk is just as great for the thievin scum, albeit a little more tricky than if the unit is free floating like yours :)

 Not really a problem at my new place TBH... I've had the Kenwood sat on my passenger seat for 3 days with no probs. :o

I'd love to know how to make more room behind the HU though for all the wiring.

I think i need to move to where you're

When I fitted my Sony HU to the 1.6 Octy I had to reverse 2 wires to get it to retain its memory (got advice here (reason I joined)). Also had the problem that with all the wires it would not click into place. I had to remove my glove compartment to get my hand around the back and guide the wires out of the way till the HU clicked into place. Perhaps you can do something similar with the Fabia?

My glovebox is out and I had a good feel in the dark last night ;) I may need to do it in daylight to see where I'm putting my hand... Now to solve the wiring issue. :D

As the unit is not keeping its memory are you sure you haven't blown a fuse on the permanent memory feed ? Some headunits will work with just accessory and earth, so this maybe the cause of the problem. Other than that, reversing the powers red/yellow should be fine. Check the fuses or use a test meter.

As for the yellow having a 'spur' off of it, this is for connecting the permanent feed for a CD changer. Pioneer CD changers need and earth at the unit and a power feed picked up from the headunit.

Black box is for filtering, so don't cut it off.

If I can get Grahams 7inch flip out screen in, I'm sure an 8400MP will fit !

I know with my latest unit in my Octy I took the climate contro module out to help get rid of the cables.

Hope this helps

Andy
