Lead times for 1.4Tsi and 1.6CR models.

Featured Replies

Anyone know the current official lead time for models fitted with 1.4Tsi or 1.6CR diesel models?

The reason I ask, is that the VAT free offer stipulates delivery/registraion by Dec 31 and I've just read on another board that claim lead time on new Golfs are now 6 months with 1.4Tsi longer still!

So is it too late to place an order for factory order VAT free Octavias, i.e. is it a sham?

That word 'Registrations' is a bit ambiguous.

To my mind, if you order now and the lead time is beyond December 31st, you should still qualify as it's something beyond your control. Equally, if you order at the beginning of December it should be obvious that you cannot build, deliver and register before the 31st but if the offer is still running, you should still qualify.

I might be wrong, but that's how I see it. If not, it would be a classic 'bait and switch' and you would be well within your rights to cancel.

I've been asking about lead times for vehicles and the common response is an average of 8-12 weeks, so if you want to be safe for registration & the Octavia VAT & 0% offer then really you need to place your order by the end of September.

However I've also been told that Skoda UK will be replacing its computer systems very shortly, so may throw a spanner in the works... Oh Great, just great! :orb_duh:

I've ordered a 1.6tdi cr Octavia (via Drive the Deal - local Skoda dealers hopeless) - delivery curently 12-14 weeks. If you want to beat the VAT increase you will need to order soon.

There's a similar thread on here regarding the VAT-free purchase of a vRS via Drive-The-Deal. They have told the purchaser that he will have to pay the additional 2.5% VAT if the car isn't delivered & registered before the VAT-free promotion expires.

They also gave him a lead time of 16 weeks (which seems unduly long for a vRS) and I would expect similar/longer lead times for the 1.4TSI or new 1.6 TDI CR powerplants which are in very high demand throughout Europe? It's going to be touch-and-go for people placing such orders within the next few weeks.

I spoke to my dealer two weeks ago and the sales manager said that the car must be registered before the end of the year and after that, to use her words, "all bets are off" and because of the delivery times 1.4TSI models would not be until January.

Presumably other models may be delivered before the end of December but it would be wise to check. If they assured you that it would be delivered and for some reason it wasn't then I'm not sure how you would stand.

Skoda may extend the offer or have a different one after this date though, it depends on how easy they can sell the cars and how much of a cut in profits they're willing to take.

I'm no lawyer, but if they accept the order knowing full well it cannot meet the cut-off date, then that's not the buyer's issue. The should either absorb the difference or the buyer can walk away.

Said it before and will say it again. Bait and Switch.

I ordered my Elegance hatchback 1.4TSi manual with several extras at the end of July.

I was told 3-4 months maximum at time of ordering. I spoke to the dealer last week and they told me my car was due to be built in week 38, mid September, so hopefully would be only 3 months as stated.

I have read on the site here and sites in Germany saying that DSGs were taking longer. Estates seem to be taking a little longer as well, but not as much as the delay for the DSG.

I ordered my 1.6 TDi CR on Friday (21st August) and was told a build date of week 40, or beginning of October for delivery at the end of October. I'm getting an Elegance hatch with a few extras, so the car isn't coming from stock. We'll just have to wait and see.
