Car Height

Featured Replies

Hello I have developed hip problems over the last few years which is making it difficult for me to get down into the drivers seat on my Octavia Scout.I was wondering if the Roomster stands higher off of the road. Can anyone tell me (or point me at some documentation) if the roomster stands higher on the road?

Many thanks

Ian

Your question is a little ambiguous-stands higher than what?

Might be worth while having a look at Škoda. If you click on Roomster and follow the various links your question might be answered.

Sorry it is a bit confusing.

I am trying to find out if the Roomster drivers seat is higher than that of the scout in realtion to the road. The higher the seat, the easier it is for me to get into the car.

I've had a look at the skoda specs, but all I can find is that the scout in 14mm taller than the standard Octavia.

I suspect it's higher but the only way to be sure would be to try one in the showroom.

The Scout currently has the most amount of ground clearance in the Skoda range but based on an Octi will have a lowish seating position.

I would be surprised though if the Roomster was any better, therefore you may wish to look at the forthcoming Yeti.

The Yeti has same ground clearance as Scout and from trying it out myself appears to have a higher driving position due to the taller body of the 'crossover' design.

Also uses the same clever Roomster rear seat system.

thanks I'll go and check them out at the local dealer.

First I'd recommend adjusting height of the driver's seat.

In a Roomy Scout you can be positioned either rather lowish or highish. What I mean is that there's a non negligible difference between the lowest and the highest seat position.

I would expect there is a small difference in driver's seat height between O2 Scout and Roomy Scout in Roomy's favor, but it is overshadowed by the set seat position.

The Yeti doesn't go on sale until September although you can order them now and the dealers don't have any in stock.

There is however a roadshow going on where Czech specification cars are being taken round the dealerships but they're only at each dealer for one day. You can find the dates here

I went to my local dealer on the 4th to have a look and the seats are considerably higher than in my current Octavia Estate. It's a very nice car.

The problem then is if the seat's not at a level that's comfortable to drive at.

Simply jack the seat up to get in/out then ;)

Today I was waiting at a roundabout, next to an Octavia estate. I was quite a bit higher up than the driver of the Octavia, and I have my Roomster Scout seat down near the lowest position.

Right, but what about Octavia Scout Estate? :D I believe that Roomster Scout is about an inch higher that Octavia Scout, disregarding the seat, but it's really after iccyboo to see if this is enough for him.
