Front Brake PADS recommendation required

Featured Replies

I require a set of front brake pads for my Superb Elegance 55 plate (1.9 PD).

I want a quality parts and was wondering which brand to use. I have normally used Mintex. Is there any other goods brands which you can recommend?

Thanks

Teves, Textar or Lockheed/Delphi.

which are the best?

I need them to last as long as possible, sick of replacing them all the time. My Mintex Pads normally last about 18k.

Ferodo do nice pads in my opinion. :)

where can i get Ferero from?

A sweet shop?

rotodiesel.

now that was very funny indeed rotodiesel....excellent reply hahaha

i would have thought any good car part manufacturer would advise on what brake pads were best for the superb,,,,maybe partco....gsf......halfords? although the ferodo was inadvertantly spelt wrong....maybe one stop might sell them...sorry had to have another laugh

Genuine dealer ones, I got 20k miles out of mine in 7 months... (it's a taxi )

I normally say Mintex or Ferodo. However we are now using EBC on all of our cars. These pads suit our driving style, produce less dust and are kinder to discs. OEM Skoda ones, I think, are made by Pagid so are a good make. Textar, Pagid and Mintex are made in the UK by TMD Friction, (I know this because I've worked in one of their factories in Hartlepool).

How about Tarox?

We sell them , my son has them in his MK4 Golf , as I dont think he had any brakes on his car

But Tarox pads and ZeroSixty discs and he now has brakes :D

For high speed driving and braking, EBC yellows win hands down for me, but are expensive.

Superb has too small brakes for its size, even the 312mm ones fade on braking 130mph-50mph twice within 1min-2min.

If you go with yellows, you need uprated brake fluid (any DOT5.1 or Castrol Super DOT4) because these pads can take enough heat to boil the fluid in successive applications (I had this happen with Greens).

I used to be happy with EBC greens, but the last set was really crappy - have they changed the compound?

Edit: stock discs or reasonable alternatives (e.g. Febi) are just fine with the yellows.
