Hi all, seems my local Skoda dealer has no FLs to test at all let alone one with DSG! There's no way I'm parting with my wedge until I've driven one! Can anyone suggest anything? Any dealers in South West London/Surrey or even Sussex that can help??

The FL is just that, a facelift. The changes are only cosmetic. So if you can find a pre-FL with the same engine and drivetrain, I would test drive that.

Yer, ta for the info. But they don't have any petrol or DSG afraid. :( I'd be happy to test a derv DSG). My main reason for changing to Skoda is for the DSG but obviously want to test one first!

I know the feeling, I'm looking to do a test drive and can't find or get one either, I would like to try both the petrol & diesel vRS's but I can't find one to try, so am therefore aprehensive about buying one without actually knowing what it's like to drive!

Just don't go to Station Garage, Ewhurst, utterly unfriendly & don't seem to take enquiries seriously or seem to know their products either..

I would have thought that if the dealer was serious about getting your custom, then he'd find you one. If he won't play, then find another dealer!

Have they maybe got a Superb or a used Octavia with DSG for you to try - its the gearbox thats the important bit I'm guessing?

Yer, got a reply within seconds from another dealer who is on the ball. I'm very surprised, normally dealers can't wait to get you into the latest model, even as a loan car while yours is serviced.

Its the DSG which is something I want to try, trying a petrol and derv would be nice, but really I'm already settled on the petrol. I'd be happy to post up the out come once I've checked with the dealer.

I had a similar situation with the non availability of a Skoda Octavia1.4TSi with DSG. My somewhat strange route was to try the new Golf with that engine & transmission plus a different F/L Octavia.

Loved the Golf with that engine & transmission & the FL Octy ,so for me the solution was easy.

Beadles in Maidstone has a silver FL Cr170 DSG vRS (hatch) as a demo. I drove it a couple of days ago. I dealt with Paul, who was friendly and helpful.
