A very noob question about ECU's

Featured Replies

I was bored in work today and thought to myself would it be possible to install an ECU from a 1.4 100bhp fabia into a 1.4 75bhp model and subsequently have 25 more horse power from the 75bhp engine? I'm pretty sure it's not that simple but I'm curious!

don't think so!!!

100bhp is a 16valve engine and 75bhp an 8valve...

think that is correct...

I have the 75bhp version and it's a 16v

I think the 8 valve 1.4's only have 68bhp..

The 75hp has the auto box doesn't it? I can see that being an issue right off. I'm sure there is way more to it than though.

Take it you've got an early sport then, that is indeed the same engine as on the auto but with a manual, aint it? They used it because it's got a little more tourque than the 100. Not sure you can as doesn't the ecu pair and sync with various other parts? If it were this easy than surely a remap can have the same effect?

I gather that there is not much that can be done to improve on the 1.4 16V petrol engine - sorry.

Duggie managed to get his 68bhp 1.4MPi up to 75bhp with the help of Jabba, so I'm sure at least SOMETHING must be possible...

I believe the 100BHP 16v has different cams, for a start.

I managed to get my old 75bhp 1.4 16v lupo up to 98bhp with the aid of a 1.6 GTi inlet manifold and throttle body, induction kit and remap to suit vpower fuel.

Here's my old graph..

Lots of discussion on Club Lupo about this! :)

Indeed, really good info on these engines over there...

What power gains would I be looking at then if I had a remap on my 75bhp?

The differences between 1.4 16v 75 ps and 1.4 16v 100ps engine are: Cams, ECU remap and a larger throttle body.

I tryed it with the polo 1.4 16v 75ps,of my brother-in-law, that we put that was in excess from mine fabia!:D
