Painting/polishing cam cover & inlet manifold advice please!!

Featured Replies

Any ideas on what is best for doing this? I wanted to polish mine up (i'm turning into a tart in my old age....), I have seen some that have been painted which look good to, any thought or ideas would be great, cheers in advance!!

Steve:)

Magnolia emulsion, brush painted on??

EDIT : Some pics of painted/polished ones would be nice.... (mine is standard so no point, hence the frivolous answer :D)

Nice, but I was thinking more eggshell white.....:D

Have a look at this thread Steve:thumbup: http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/tb-inlet-manifold-painted/147731/

I rubbed It down as flat as possible near enough polished, then I think my friend keyed It with a thin layer of primer then sprayed & laquered It.

If you want I can find a more detailed process of what he does.

As for painting the cam cover & the heat. My friend sprays the cam covers of the Civic typeR's & he has never had any problems;).

mate your manifold and TB are both loverrlllly, they looked so good at gaydon.

now if only i wasnt too lazy to remove them, get them painted etc. it would also mean i might have to clean the rest of my engine bay

Mark,

Thanks for the comments:thumbup:

I told you I have a spare manifold that I can rub down & paint for you (with a small fee) to save your lazy hands:rofl:

No, only what primer, paint and lacquer he uses.

Cheers Oggy.

Steve:)

powder coating is the way forward imo

I have spoke to my friend.

* You need to rub It down so everything Is flat.

*. Put a thin layer of etch primer

*. Put a high build primer on

*. Flat back to remove any imperfections

*. then apply 2k paint & laquer

He has done things like engine blocks, cam covers & inlet manifolds & had no issues with the heat.

He has sprayed them with pearl, metalic & flat coloured paint depending on which finish they wanted.

If you want one doing just let me know & I'll ask him for a price as he said he could do It.
