stone chips

Featured Replies

i counted 17 stone chips on my car, that were all the way down to the metal:mad:. I think skoda might have skimped abit on the paint work.

Can anyone recommend a mobile chip service to get them sorted around the chatham kent area.

cheers guys

I feel your pain but will they not come back again?

Ian Beale's Chop Shop is in the East End somewhere, which is not too far from Kent iirc...

does that need booking in via the BBC then, il give em a call;)

stone chips are fairly easy to diy repair...

iirc you simply fill the chip with the right colour paint using the end of a cocktail stick IN STAGES...

then leave it slightly proud of the rest of the paint and flat back with very fine wet/dry and polish again.

Same principle if you have metallic paint, except the last few layers need to be lacquer instead of paint.

no way am i doing that my self:rofl: ive got the touch of a rapist with suff like that.

give me a spanner and ill have a go at things. if i try to touch it up myself, ill end up with a full respray(which wouldnt be so bad as i could get it done in white, lol)

My Mk2 Octy is notorious for flicking stones up and over the mirrors and onto the bonnet whilst turning corners.

Same on mine....I did that job jonnycatbisquit said as well, altho not to that extend....I painted them in one go with the colour coded stick and then once again with the transparent stick.....failed to polish as yet but it looks good if you dont get too close....
