WRC....should I sell?

Featured Replies

Hey people! I need some advice...

I have recently moved my place of work and now work about 1 mile from my house....means i get to stay in bed longer! Good times!

However I recently purchased a 2002 52 Skoda Octavia Vrs Wrc number 100/100, I have just had it fully serviced including cambelt and its in good condition with low miles (50k). It is absolutely standard except it was de-stickered by the supplying dealer.

My problem is this, im tempted to sell it as it will get hardly any use now and it frees up some cash, I would then buy a cheap runaround...but....I dont *need* to sell it!

Is it worth hanging on to, or should I just sell it and move on? I have a funny feeling it may be a future classic and considering it was the last one made and there are less than 25 left in the UK now. Maybe it will be worth something in the future?

I could really use some advice here...its a case of heart vs head!

Thanks in advance!

If you like it - keep it!

Will make it all the more special that you only use it on weekends etc :)

I would definitely keep it. I mean, my dream is to have a Sunday/track car and a daily. Which means you can keep the WRC always polished, clean etc.. mmmmm :D

keep it, shame the stickers cost so much really. Ide get it back to original and keep it polished and waxed up. only take it out in the sun/ weekends. you could be right, one day she could be a classic.

all the best

Given it isn't worth a great deal now anyway (relatively speaking), I'd cycle/walk to work and enjoy it for social/pleasure rather than subject it to short runs. If it still won't get any use then yes sell it.

I think the stickers look naff and probably just attract unwanted attention and make it harder to sell!

As an investment - no, it's not special/different enough to ever be desirable. There are lots of 'motorsport' special editions from mainstream makes that are just stickered up standard cars (minor trim/equipment aside). A Motorsport/MSD/DTM etc. sticker doesn't make a Cavalier valuable even if there's only 1 left!

Some good points....keep them coming peeps!

You need to visualise how you'll feel watching it drive away - if that's not a nice thought, keep it. I'm just the same with my guitars.

I agree with Billy, Put the stickers back on and bring her back to her former glory, one day it will be worth a bit....maybe.

Keep it! I regret selling mine. I wish I had kept it and bought a cheap runabout. They're excellent cars and although yours is sticker-less (which is crime I might add) it's just a little bit more special than a standard vRS.

cheers martin, I also wasnt a fan of the stickers but without them the car is really an ex cop car lol. If the car is in its stickers and you do some other tasteful mods to increase the power and handling it will be an ace track car. aswell as look the part.

If I had the money I would def get one all transfered up. The WRC is not really an everyday car, I think its for he Octy enthusiast lol, has to be with the stickers lol.

end of the day its up to you mate.

Personally if I went back into the position of not needing a car for work and carrying bikes etc, I would sell the vRS and get a VERY fun car in the vain of Westfield, Kit Car etc.

I have wrc no.73, and i use it everyday. I dont believe in keepin cars hidden away in garages scared to put miles on it in the hope that some day it maybe worth more than what you payed for it. I did the same with my Sierra Cosworth, Drove it every day. Cars were ment to be driven not stored away.

I agree, mine is no. 34 and gets used daily, all be it by her indoors, lol. I do get the privilige of washing it frequently though. :D

tin0 those A8 alloys look smart on the white. what size are they ?

Thanx! They are the 19's but look bigger on that photo, think its the angle.

Not got them on the car at the moment cos im playing with the colour coding of them and they need tyres unfortunatly :D

If you do sell how much do you want??
