ABS Reset

Featured Replies

Me and one of the other members have been working on his car recently, he took it to a track day and half way through the day his ABS and traction control warning lights came on. It was VAG-commed on the day and a fault wheel speed sensor was diagnosed.

This has been replaced today and the traction control is now working properly (light is out) but there is still an ABS light on the dashboard and the ABS isn't working. Now my question is - can you reset the ABS system with VAG-Com?

Very often this kind of problem is due to dirt build-up or some foreign object between the sensor and what it picks up on. Check this first. The sensor might be working perfectly normally, it just might not be able to detect that the wheel is rotating......

We wrecked the old sensor getting it out

It's now been replaced by a brand new sensor which seems to have fixed the traction control problem, it's just still showing the ABS warning light and doesn't have any ABS.

It's not showing any fault codes any more, so we don't think it's one of the other sensors.

Can the ABS controller be reset by disconnecting the battery for a while or is it going to need VAG-Com?
