LOUD NOISES!

Is it a UK car?, I ask because if it is it will be a multi point fuel injection engine, which do not have either a carburettor or choke.

Assuming that you have cleaned the throttle body, does the cable have enough slack in it?, have you checked the inlet manifold gaskets for leaks and have you got access to equipment to reset the throttle body and read any codes, also does it run at normal temperature?

no sensors inside the carb, i would clean the carb with gasoline, some wires, carb cleaner spray and put a little silicone on the joints before asembly (just a drop to help the seal, dont go overboard) hook up the vacuum correctly and make shure you have a good ground for the idle cut off solenoid, after adjusting the idle mix screw your good to go, nothing more to adjust there
