Resident Evil 5 PC

Featured Replies

Hey folks.

Anyone going to be getting this? The game looks awesome and has been given a couple of little advantages while bringing it to the PC. Mainly better texture details and higher possible resolutions.

I have just installed the benchmark version of the game and it looks unbelievable!

Running at 1680x1050 with everything turned on 'high' and 4x AA I got an average of 44.6fps which although isn't brilliant it is perfectly playable!

With 2x AA I got 46.9 so not a huge loss in frames although may run at 2x just to save the minimum fram rate from dropping too much in the complex scenes.

Can you aim with the mouse?

Not in the benchmark demo no... it is purely a benchmark presumabely to see how well your PC will run the game before you go out and buy it. It either runs a set benchmark like you would find in 3Dmark or a more realistic one with AI carachters and things done more dynamically to give a more real world gaming test.

If anyone has a stereoscopic 3D setup it fully supports that too! (too scary for me even without 3D!)

What graphics card do you have?

Got a watercooled 8800 GTX with no overclocking.

Apparantly CPU is very important with Capcom's game engine and it scales very well with multiple cores. In a system with an i7 and GTX285... the GPU is a major bottle neck!

Same card as me, and I've got a Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz... so I could go a lot faster!

But I have a Q6600 @ 2.4GHZ too!

lol

4GB DDR2 800 overclocked to 1000mhz and 2.0v (can clock up to 2.2v without voiding the lifetime warranty!)

You running Vista?

4GB of DDR2 800, not overclocked yet!

Yeah, got Vista aswell lol!

I'm all air cooled in an Antec case, can't remember the model, but it's upside-down inside!

Played it on the XBOX 360 and it was awesome. Graphics were amazing. Quite a tough game tho. Just make sure you have loads of ammo saved for the end of game boss.

Is it the P180 by any chance? A seperate chamber for the PSU in the bottom? It seems to be the most popular one although there are other antecs with the PSU in the bottom.

That's what I have anyway:

That's it, the P180, but mine's black :)

Needs some new fans, they're starting to make a bit of noise. Or I could just buy a Mini-ITX system to keep on overnight...

I can barely hear mine with only 2x 120mm fans (including the PSU) so perfectly suitable to leave on overnight... although it's in another room anyway and I use a laptop or my photoframe to download if I need to overnight.

Looking forward to the game anyway and yeh it looks like it might be pretty tough!

P180 ftw...............

P180 ftw...............

Yup! Great case as it is but even better if you have a decent pair of tin snips to create better cabling routes etc! :D

When working fine, the fan's are quiet, but the bearings/whatever are starting to go in them.

Will take a look at QuietPC later

Good lad!

The Scythe S-flex are good and have a decent, long lasting bearing on them. They are highly rated on SPCR silentpcreview.com | Everything about Silent / Quiet Computers

I have a couple of Sharkoon silent eagle "golf ball" fans and although they're good and pretty quiet there is a fair bit of bearing now and turbulance to be heard.

I'll take a look.

Years ago I had an industrial 12v 120mm fan as an intake, was about 3" deep! Would run on 3v and still blow a hell of an amount, with zero noise!

I run a http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_42&mID=72&language=en

Which when I had the system OC'd allowed me to run the Quad 6600 at 3.6ghz. But the 5hitty crucial (performance:confused::confused:) ram keeps letting me down.

It's gone again in the last week and it's not even OC'd.

I am going too try and get my money back as it the third set that has given up on me. Luckily I have spares ;)

Yeah, I've got a Freezer Pro :D

I do find, traipsing my compressor hose upstairs and blowing the dust out of everything once every few months helps, too.

I find the the front dust traps fill up in no time at all but the rest stays mostly clear.............. mostly.

I wont be playing it on the PC - Since ive played it through like six times on the Xbox!

Quality game, pure quality!
