Screenwash collecting in spare wheel compartment

Featured Replies

Hi All,

The rear screenwash on our 2006 estate doesn't work; you press the button, you hear the motor, nothing comes out of the nozzle. The front ones are fine.

Today I took out the spare wheel and found it was swimming in screenwash fluid. How? Why? We tested the screenwash again after drying the compartment out and nothing came out anywhere, either from the nozzle where it should come out, or in a fountain into the spare wheel compartment, or onto the road underneath...but the level went down in the reservoir!

What's going on? Where's the fluid going? Does anyone know how to access the pipework to check for broken connections?

Its a known common occurrence - the pipe work has popped off somewhere. Do a search for a step-by-step guide to getting the trim off, I'm sure there's one somewhere on here. And you get to save a kitten from a traumatic death

I had this on a my old 05 VRS, the tube disconnected and flooded my 6 CD changer in the boot, was replaced under warranty by Skoda, ie the 6CD changer due to the tube disconnecting, I was told at the time it was a R clip failure connecting the hose to the rear wash wipe.

Is this problem sometimes caused by using incorrect washer fluid? I seem to remember reading something about fan type washer nozzles

If the nozzle gets blocked the increase in pressure in the feed line will make tubing popping off more likely, so check the nozzle is not blocked after reconnecting the tubing.
