What are the 2 caps on the top of the gearbox for? I can see what i'm guessing is the flywheel through one and a cog through the other. They both look abit rustly and unlubed. Should there be some lude in there or should they be dry?

on the 1.3 models that's where the crank sensor goes, on the vw engines 1.6 and 1.9 it is to access the flywheel timing marks (if you can think of any reason why:O), dont pour oil in there because it will ruin the clutch
