Octavia MK1 remap - who to choose!

Featured Replies

:D Finally I've got 4 weeks to go until I can remap my car, insurance renewal is due and cash flow should be healthier.

I live in the North West, Warrington and I am after any reviews of local Remap companies. Particulary owners of Octavia MK1 who have had theirs done.

So far on the list is RS tuning, Pendle Performance and maybe More BHP.

I have thought about Awesome GTI but the cost does put me off I as I can only really justify spending £200-300.

At the present time Pendle performance seems to be the best option as they seem to tweak a generic map after a test drive to best suit the engine characteristics, and can do it for £225. Also they have some good reviews on Audi TT forums.

Any advice would be welcomed.

just don't buy a postal remap from the company I did originally...

Paul over at RS is top notch as well and doesn't use generic "Bought over email" files like one in the list of 3.

I can second this. After my third problematic generic map, I took the trip over to Leeds and had a custom map done by Paul. No issues at all since then, other than the increase in fuel consumption.:D

However, driven carefully the car returns over 40mpg on long runs - and that's with the two kids and a boot full of stuff!

RS Tuning gets my vote.;)

If you want to go to someone up there then Martin or Paul get my vote.

Mapping is new to me but I looked into it and it seems interesting.

I have a 2001 1.4 Octavia and I'm wondering if Mapping will improve the performance of it at all?

As its not a turbo aspirated car, the gains will be very small for the amount of money spent. Maybe 10 bhp.

:iagree:

Looks like a steam clean and decent oil change then!

Or a VRs purchase!

One of Martin's agents did a Pendle remap for me on a mk2 petrol VRS about 6 months ago. I was delighted with the results.

I had it on JKM's rolling road at the weekend and was pleased - the bhp came out better than I had expected (231.3) although I think the torque was a little disappointing when compared to e.g. a Revo remap (about 15-20 ft/lb lower midrange). However, the price of my remap was a lot less that of a Revo and well worth it!

I can post the graph of the RR if you want.
