metallic clunk on brake pedal?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Often getting a clunk from front end when applying brakes lately. As though pressing the pedal & hitting a metal stop. No warning lights, no noticeable loss of braking power or pulling to one side etc. Other times, just get the normal 'whooshing' sound. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

1.9 tdi ambiente, 54 reg.

Thanks

Stone under a pad?

Do you feel the clunk through the pedal or can you hear it? If you can feel it through the pedal there's a possibility either something is intermittently jamming the pedal or the ABS is acting up. If you can only hear it check the suspension pivots are all free of play (Jack one of the front wheels, have someone hold the brake on and see if the jacked wheel has any play rattles when you try to move it manually).

Front pads wearing thin maybe?
