Deadlocked ...Or Not?

Featured Replies

How can I tell if my FL Octavia is deadlocked (safe mode) or not?

The paper handbook basically says, either way, that the red LED will flash fast at first then flash slower.

Seems to do this identically in both modes .

Get inside the car and press the remote to lock the door.If it's not deadlocked you will be able to pull the door handle inside to open the door.

Not made it clear. I do not want to test whether it can deadlock, as you describe above. I want to be able to tell, from the outside, if the car IS deadlocked- e.g. by how the door LED flashes. Nice to know if leaving the car in a car park.

At present ,if I am not sure that I deadlocked the car, I unlock it again then press the lock button once.

I could be wrong but I thought the car always deadlocked on 1 press of the lock and didn't put the dead locks on on a 2 press of the lock button. There is a chapter in the handbook about this if you have one. ;)

The on line handbook says if the button is pressed twice in 2 seconds the locks are not deadlocked.True, tried sitting in the car to test that.

My concern is if I deadlock the doors, then realise I want the mirrors folded, the only sure way to keep the doors deadlocked is to unlock the doors then press and hold the lock button until they start to fold.

I may be wrong, and find if there is more than a 2 second delay between the two locking presses the doors will stay deadlocked anyway. Will sit in the car again and test the procedure.

I suppose on reflection, advertising visibly that the doors are not deadlocked would be a silly move.

Adding the final sentence.

You'll hear the clunk. Wait 2 secs after locking, press lock once. Nothing happens, the locks are checked and the visual confirmation sent. Press it twice rapidly like double clicking a mouse and you'll hear the locks work.

I think you press and hold the lock button and it does it all?
