Help needed with Autolocking not unlocking whilst removing the key!

Featured Replies

Hi all, the gf's car a Mk4 1.2 Seat Ibizia, had a pioneer headunit installed by myself some time ago. I had a few issues getting it to work, but got there eventually.

Anyway since fitting it the radio surround fascia came away from the dash, so i set about clipping it back in yesterday.

Came to refitting the radio and it would only work if it was touching the cage in the dash :S

Then it stopped all together, now the cd player works in my mk2 octy no problems. Neither will my cd player work in her car.

But then again a the factory fit cd player that doesn't require any adaptors between the iso and the unit works fine :S

Another problem i've now got is the Autolocking works over 15mph, but once you stop and remove the key from the ignition it wont unlock.

Does anyone have any idea's what maybe going off?

For the head unit in the Ibiza, all I can suggest is checking the wiring into the connector as if it's working when touching the metal cage, it sounds like a bad earth?

For the auto-locking, I'm not sure if you're referring to your Octavia or your gf's Ibiza. If it's on the Octavia (which I guess it is ), I can fix it for you in half a minute. You can bring it over to Sheffield or I could do it at the next J28 meet.

Its the gf's ibiza thats got issues with the autolocking at the moment.

I've tried my wiring loom on her headunit as i've got a Pioneer unit also, but it doesn't work. It semt when i moved the wiring whilst behind the headunit that it would stop playing.

I'm just a little lost as to why the standard unit would work correctly in the Ibiza. But both of the pioneer units wouldn't work in hers, but will mine.

I thought it could be a bad earth, but i cannot see any earth points behind the dash and all of the fuses look fine.

May take you up on sorting the autolocking out. I just want to get the radio sorted out first, if i tried going for the pernament live on the wiring adaptor the door locks started going crazy :S
