Missing SKC code for immobiliser

Featured Replies

Hello.

I am trying to get a spare key for my Fabia (2001). I have managed to get the key cut and a new chip (as the key I got from e-bay had a locked one) but the locksmith could not code the key to the car as I do not have the 4 digit SKC code that is required.

Is there any way of getting this code (or getting the key coded) without going to the Skoda dealer? My last experience with my local Skoda dealer was not a happy one & I refuse to go back.

It may be that I have to go to another Skoda dealer, if so how much do you think it should cost to just code the key?

Thanks for your help.

Vagtacho would retreive your SKC

Good look with the cloned copies of Vagtacho (i.e. all of them available on ebay etc). I have VAG Commander 7 (the official one) and can retrieve the SKC for you. If you can live without the car for a couple of days I could retrieve it by post or if you are local then just pop in.

Based in East London so not v local. Does this mean that you can get the SKC direct from Skoda? (sorry - not technical at all - this is all new to me).

Thanks.

No unfortunately not. Skoda or indeed any of the group (Audi/VW/Seat) cannot retrieve or request it. If they code your key for you then it is all done with their dealer tools and they never actually get to see the code as it is automatic.

The only way of obtaining the SKC now is by retrieving it from the car with the correct tools. I can retrieve them from a car's ECU but I need the actual ECU to look at it unfortunately.

Oh well.

Thanks for the offer anyway. Unless there is anyone local that can help I'll just have to seach for the next nearest Skoda dealer.

It would have been nice to get hold of the code anyway as it seems to be a vital piece of information. Will know next time I buy a used car to make sure I get a spare key & all the necessary codes.

Cheers

Jon,

Where did you get your blank chip/transponder mate?

Auto-locksmith that came out to the car today. Thought I had the SKC code but was sadly mistaken - and the locksmith wasn't able to extract it.
