Audience+Sound System. Is it possible to upgrade to Columbus?

Featured Replies

Title says it all. I'd also be interested in understanding how one does browse the Music on the Hard Disk / SD card. Is it database or just folders? Meaning, can one browse by Artist/Album/Genre/etc.? How fast is browsing on an SDHC?

Does it offer gapless playback of tracks (think Abbey Road, Dark Side of The Moon, Dance mixes, etc.)? Previously somebody stated so but I wasn't really left feeling that he got what I meant.

Mine hasn't got gapless playback, which is vaguely annoying but I resign myself to the fact that nothing is perfect. That's possibly a software - firmware thing, but it doesn't bother me that much. Browsing music is purely folder based, though you can add a hierarchy to it to 6 levels if you can be bothered. Playing just works through each folder alphabetically which is why you may want to do this.

SD card browsing is same as the hard disk, pretty much instantaneous. If you've got an Octy 2 (which you have) then it is possible to upgrade, as Columbus will just talk to the CAN and everything should be fine. Be aware that all the extras like MFSW may not work though and will need recoding if not.
