Power steering

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2001 Fabia estate with the usual flickering lights and power steering issues.

Having read about this on the forums I would like to add my two penneth.

My steering went very light recently, it feels like I am driving on ice.

having got home I checked under the bonnet and could hear the power steering pump

working intermittently even though there was nobody moving the steering wheel.

Also the interior light was flickering in time with the pump going on and off.

This must be the steering angle sensor problem I have been reading about.

Or am I totally wrong!

From what I have rwad in the manual, the sensor is located under the steering wheel

and you have to remove this to replace it.

The yaw sensor I have read about is not fitted to cars without ESP so it can't be that, as

my car does not have ESP.

Any comments

pas sensor i changed mine 2 weeks ago now is like brand new

50 quid ebay  30 min under car:thumbup: big smile on my face:D

I'd get the sensor changed quick-sharp. I had the symptoms you described for a while and eventually the PAS pump died altogether. I'm now 1 month down the line, no flickering lights, but started hearing the pump working intermittently again today while parking up, then lo and behold 2 miles later the new PAS pump has stopped working, so because no-one at the garage believed me about the angle sensor (I'm just a girl, right?!) I'm £300 down for the new pump + labour and looking at having to pay the same again, plus the angle sensor that I asked to be replaced in the first place!
