Cruise control- do I need a new module?

Featured Replies

I may fit cruise control in the future but am unsure if I need a new module or whether the existing one would work. My hw and sw numbers are 1K0 953 549 BC. I have checked on the ross-tech wiki Cruise Control Retrofitting (1K) - Ross-Tech Wiki but it says "Note: 1K0-953-549-BC may have a Bug which doesn't allow Cruise Control Retrofitting, in such a Case you need to replace the Module."

Any ideas?

You would need to try it to find out, but you will probably be OK.

As I thought, thanks anyway Ben

Done quite a few CC's Martin and I've never found an Octy RS that needed a new steering controller. As a very 'rough' guide if it has an onboard computer (righthand stalk buttons and menu) it'll be ok.

Thats a big help thanks Stu.

You can narrow it down further by checking the slip-ring part number. If it is 1K0 959 653 C and you have the computer as VRStu describes, you DON'T have the faulty module.

I thought it was just the classic that didn't have the correct controller?

One more thing, will the Mk5 golf stalk work with the Mk2 Octavia? They look the same but have a different part number.

Should be the same part number for all Martin. Only changes on them were the last digit, with the later one having the extra white decals for the newer cars.
