What ODB reader?

Featured Replies

Took the jump and bought my first brand new car in 21 years!! It is an Octavia II with the 105 PD engine. I'm looking for a reader so if any problems emerge I can plug it in and hopefully see the problem, and not have a dealer pull the wool over my eyes. I don''t need the full VAG com, I don't want to monkey about with any settings, in case I disable the whole car. So looking for a system just to look and diagnose problems, clear the odd code and clear the cel if needed.

You've got two options, really - a non-genuine VAG-COM cable and an unregistered version of the software on a laptop (although the connection on non-genuine cables can sometimes be a bit 'flaky'), or a simple hand scanner from someone like Gendan. You should be able to get either of those with ample change from a nifty (assuming you already have a laptop if you're going for the first option...)
