error codes 16891 and 17544

Hi Guys

Im selling my octavia (need a van going to miss it massively best car ive ever owned by a mile) and really want it to be right for the next owner so im looking to fix a couple of issues the car has at the minute

Ive recently cleaned the throttle body

Had error codes before for the front 02 sensor so replaced it and now im getting the following error codes

16891 Idle Control System Higher than Expected

17544 Long Term Fuel Trim Add.Fuel,Bank1 System too Lean

Any ideas on how i can fix these?

anyway I did a search and found this :-

16891/P0507/001287 - Idle Control System RPM: Higher than Expected.

Possible Symptoms

  • Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) active

Possible Causes

  • Throttle Valve Control Module (J338) dirty/faulty
  • Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

Possible Solutions

  • Check Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)
  • Check Wiring/Connector(s) from/to Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)

17544/P1136/004406 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean

Possible Solutions

  • Check Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
  • Check Fuel Pressure Regulator
  • Check Fuel Pump
  • Check Intake/Exhaust System for Leaks
  • Check Secondary Air Injection for Leaks
  • Check Vacuum Lines for Leaks

Thank you sir i was just outside listening to it i think i have a slight air leak. That might explain the second one.

Ill get a photo of the offending pipe hopefully someone can tell me which pipe it is etc

Im going to have a really good look at this on friday and see if i can identify the culprit.

Yeah the second code is a common one for leaking breather hoses.

Either the Y-piece off the rocker cover, or the S-hose from the T-piece to inlet manifold. That one's under the manifold, to the right hand side. You can get your hand on it to feel for leaks easily enough.

With the 1st code, did you disconnect the TB when you cleaned it? And did you perform a reset if you did disconnect it? I'd clear that code and see if it goes away, as the TB should self adjust after a few miles.

These are all things on my list of things to do tommorow!

i didnt disconnect it. I only have a handheld scanner not vagcom so couldnt reset it if i disconnected it.

i know this is cheeky but dont suppose you could post a pic of the engine bay and an arrow to explain which pipe you mean?
