Scout TDi - anyone remapped one ?

Featured Replies

Has anyone remapped a Scout ?

I know the engine is the same as regular Octavia but wondered how much difference it's made to the way the car drives with the haldex transmission.

Also are Jabbasport still as good as they used to be ? Its 5 yrs since I remapped my 4x4 1.8T Octavia Mk1 and I'd be tempted to go back to them again. Or have things moved on since then ?

Er no - up to the facelift versions the Scout and 4x4 TDi's have the 2.0 litre BMM 8 valve engine with DPF whereas the regular Octavia got a 16 valver without DPF...

This significantly affect how the remaps are done and who can do them and as far as I am aware no one is yet offering a specific Scout/4x4 remap.

Ok thanks - I would have though that the 8V + DPF must have been remapped by someone, as the engine isn't unique to the 4x4/ Scout within the Volkswagen Group of brands ?

Has the facelifted scout got a different engine then?

I wasn't 100% certain before as I haven't seen a FL one yet and ours is a 2007 but having looked at the latest brochure showing the FL Scout it still notes the 140bhp PD engine so I'd guess that yes it is still the same as the pre-FL.

Yes there are lots of remap. As i understand the bosch ecu of the 140 is easier to manipulate so significantly less dpf issues than 170. Also the flow rate of the 140 never gets to the point that cause the dpf and issue, i think its around 200bhp the things start to get iffy, thus no problem with the 140 remapped to say approx 170 - 180 ish. I assume that it will not be massive numbers as it runs the same turbo as the 1.9 8v 105bhp, a garret 1646 which is somewhat smaller than the 1749 of the 16v version.

But do not disappear as the bmm engine was used in the superchips caddy racer, so superchips have masses of data on the engine, including delete of the dpf from the software, and as its the same turbo as fitted the 105 tdi a down pipe from said vehicle would bolt straight on and you would be dpf free. The caddy racer ran with a 1.9 150pd tdi hybrid.

I had it in my mind that the TDI 140 in the 4x4 and Scout was on a Siemens ECU?
