Estate/Scout - storage tray behind rear seats keeps dropping out?

Featured Replies

I was quite surprised to find my Scout had the storage tray between the load cover and the rear seats.

Very pleased though as this is seems an ideal space to store odds'n'ends but still get to them quickly, especially when the boot is full.

However, I've found that the tray does have a tendency to drop out, after, say, going over a particularly aggressive speed hump.

On closer inspection, it seems like the tray has quite a bit of play from left to right, and with stuff loaded in it it can get dislodged to one side, allowing the other side to drop out.

Anyone else experience this and know of a cure? I was thinking of sticking some foam or rubber on each end to keep the tray centred.

Someone else with this problem!

I fixed it in two ways;

  • Small round foam pads in the round location barrels
  • Some small foam strips to stop it sliding left and right at the sides where it is supported by the small ledges.

I just now need to stop my umbrella sliding around :rofl:

I solved this with a bit of that anti-slip mat you can buy in Halfords (or IKEA, where it's much cheapers!).

I'll try the foam pads as you suggest!

I was going to actually add some velcro straps to hold it in place but I like your suggestion :) Tesco have a nice little pack of rubber feet for 99p which could work nicely as well
