right i have a very anoying noise from the charcoal canister its clicing really loud like a relay......what does this mean is it fecked and will it mean some performance can be lost as the car diddent feel right tonight( might be me:O)

disconnect and it shuts up lol

hi mate,

Its meant to store fuel vapour, so maybe the clicking means its working.

Mine periodically makes noise for a period of time then i don't hear it anymore for a while.

I know that it doesnt help but it shows they are random in the way they work!

It'll be the purge valve. In theory you could get a performance loss if the valve is stuck open but it should be small.

The petrol vapour stored in the charcoal cannister is released into the inlet under control of the ECU. The purge valve on the top of the cannister controls the release and only does so when the engine is warmed up.

You can prise it out of the tank and attempt to clean it. If you use IPA or similar make sure it has gone before putting it back. Loosen the petrol filler cap before attempting to remove the valve.

HTH

i know it opens and closes like a relay but i have never heard it this loud before:O

car was at idle and not up to temp and it was going crazy fast and loud:confused:

Maybe keep an eye on it for a few days, mine def was noisy for a while but now its not. If it doesnt quieten down, maybe look at the valve like rwbaldwin suggests.

think i may pull it apart tomoz and do what the golf boys do throw it in the bin lol re work the vac hoses :D:D;)

pics please when its done:thumbup:
