Does anyone know the size of the standard front discs on the Octy2 PD140 hatch - to save me taking the wheel of and measuring them.

280mm sound right? i jus looked on euro car parts, stick ur reg in and look at some sets.

If they are either 280 or 288 is there any real benifit to be got from fitting 312mm brakes

well i guess it depends how much u feel ur brakes are being used now? I`v jus put 312mm on my fabia, but that was because i was getting some lovely brake fade. lol

Yes fade is what I am looking to overcome

in that case i suppose theres two route much like the fabia. Either go for 312s, which would need to be off a mk5 golf for your octy i think, or try upgraded discs and pads.

Standard the PD140's come with ATE callpers over 288mm vented discs (25mm thick new).

I created a thread on the forum about parts needed to convert them to the 312mm discs as per the VRS and that provides a lot more brake prediuctability to the car.

A search on 312mm in the octavia II section should find it.
