DSG Max Torque Before Clutch Problems

Featured Replies

Hi people, ive just bought an Octy II vrs tdi cr and im planning to get it remapped to 205bhp with 60lbs/ft of torque. I have some concerns regarding the dsg clutch, can anyone tell me what the max bhp and torque figures are before i need to worrie about any problems. eg clutch slip, any information on this subject would be gratefull thanks

I would hope your remap is going to give you more than 60lbft of torque. ;)

I know of several cars that are running over 300 bhp and 350 lbft of torque. From my personal experiences with DSG it would seem the weak point is the mechatronics unit not the clutches.

It is also possible to get DSG remaps that increase the oil pressure and subsequently the clamping pressure.

thanks for your advice :)

I dont suppose you know of any companys which do DSG remapps? Also is it worth getting it done along with an ecu remapp? also whats the gains of of remapping the DSG? im sorry to hound you with questions but the DSG scene is new to me

I know for certain that GIAC do one and that other companies such as REVO have them in development.

Not sure what the score is on a diseasal but on a petrol DSG the box will always force a change before the redline. With a DSG map this can be altered.

It can also alter the launch control RPM.

power is not the limit of the box, torque is, officially its rated at 350NM which is what your octavia should be putting out, as does the passat R36

I've got a Passat Sport 170 DSG and i'll be having it remapped when i've got the money if thats worth anything to you

I have a PD140 DSG and have it mapped to 400nm (according to the tuner), I have 260,000kms on the car with plenty of very spirited driving included in that. It had a flywheel replaced under warranty at 130,000kms but I believe this is commonplace with the DMF. I had the car remapped after about 2000kms.
