Diesel pump linkage

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I own a 1999 Skoda Felicia 1.9D GLi which is fitted with a Lucas AEF diesel pump.

I need a replacement plastic linkage, about 5.5cm long, which links the throttle lever to another lever, on the same side as the fuel cutoff solenoid. The plastic link has a socket at each end which clips onto a ball joint on each lever. Thus when the throttle position changes this other lever follows.

The link has 1 white end & a black end & has blue shrink wrap in the middle.

See attached photo.

The only information I can find is that this linkage controls the " light load advance" - can any describe how this works? I've replaced it (the plastic went brittle) with some stiff copper wire, but I would really like a permanent fix. The local Skoda dealership cannot find the part on their system.

Hi Svoburner,

I had the same linkage on my 1.9D fail a couple of years ago - one of the ends came off and I noticed lumpy running on the overrun. I got a new one for about £5 from a diesel injection specialist.

He advised me to make sure that the new one was adjusted to exacly the same length as the old one before fitting. Then it was just a matter of pressing it on with a pair of pliers as the joints are quite stiff.

So try a diesel specialist - they seem to keep a ready supply of these type of things.

Thanks for that - I've tried two diesel specialists, only one replied, 'diesel bob' http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/index.asp , and they wanted £42 + vat for a lump of plastic. When I commented about the amount he suggested I take it up with Lucas...... so I'm still on the look out.

Who did you use?

I got mine from Mid-Ulster Diesel Services in a little village called Stewartstown in County Tyrone. They're a Bosch specialist, but had the linkage for a Lucas pump, which is what's on my car too.

I looked back at the post I put up at the time and I paid £4-50 for it. It's just not worth the £40-odd you've been quoted!

Let me see if I can get their contact details for you.

Ok, I got the address.

Mid-Ulster Diesel Services,

Give them a ring or, if you want, I can call in with them someday this week and see if they still have the linkages. I could then post it to you.

Let me know.
