new noise

Featured Replies

Octavia 1.8T, short shift into 2nd gear, low rpm. cold engine, accelarate, can hear a noise like a VW beetle exhaust. I do not drive the car like this as the engine is bordering on labouring, but I have never heard it before, and I have had the car for 4yrs. Recent changes include chip and all belts changed.

Could be a slipping Aux. belt but doesn't sound like it. Any one else heard this.

Regards

Adoks

Come on guys, someone must have some thoughts on this

can barely remember my car now, been 15 weeks since i drove it :(

If you don't drive the car like that - and you know you shouldn't when the engine is cold - is the noise absent? If so, no problem.

Loose exhaust allowing funny resonance? Which part of the car is the noise coming from?

(Although I share a reluctance to encourage too much testing like this on the poor engine :D)
