Can anyone tell me in approximate terms how much a first variable service on an 08 Octavia 2.9 TDi should cost. My understanding is that it is a fairly small service but I have been quoted two wildly different prices by local dealers. One says £143 and the other £210, quite a difference and with long life oil at about £50 for 5 litres the £143 doesn't sound too bad but is it the right service at that price. Any thoughts or info gratefully recieved.

PS the mileage will be about 17,500 when it is due.

My first on an 55 plate PD140 was back in May 2007 and that was just under £200 at Bickertons. Bickertons do seem quite pricey though so £210 looks quite high and £143 looks surprisingly cheap.

When you get it done, check and re check everthing like caps etc in case left off, like my local dealer did.

The £143 is a country dealer/garage about 30miles from city (which is quite hand for me) while the £210 is city centre. I must recheck but if all else equal guess which I will be using?
