Octavia fog light

Featured Replies

Good morning to you all.

I am now the proud owner of a Skoda Octavia 2.0 Vrs limited edition.

I am living in germany

I have had a look in the forums but can't find what i'm looking for. I need to change my headlights for continental use which isn't a problem,

I was wondering how to either get the other side fog light to work or both of them. Does anyone know how to do this or should i just put a wire from the right hand fog to the left one and hide it under the boot trim?

Thanks in advance

I think you have to use vag-com etc eg computer tells car computer to ennable it

I'm sure some people on this forum have acheived this just with VAG-COM, so I thought it's just an option which needs changing in the software.

However, when my new car was delivered last week I asked the dealer to do it, and he came back telling me it would need some re-wiring.

I got dealer to turn on my daytime running lights which was what I really wanted, so I was happy to just get that done, even if I still only have one rear fog light. Didn't ask him to re-wire fog light.

Perhaps with newer cars it's not as simple as ticking a box in some software then, but I'm not sure by any means.

First thing to check is to see if there is a wire to cluster for the foglight.

If there is, you need to put a bulb in and then enable it with VCDS/VAG-COM. You can choose to have either or both foglights enabled. Many choose to have both foglights on.

My 2008 Scout only had one rear fog light when I collected it last month.

I'd read on here it was possible to have Skoda enable the second one (I've not got Maxidot).

I asked my local dealer and they said they'd take a look, they did this FOC in ten minutes, now got both rear fogs enabled!

So it can be done!

I did it on my MY08 L&K combi and SWMBO's MY08 vRS TDI with no problems.

IIRC there are some control modules that dont allow it. Some people have reported problems trying to activate the second fog light in the past.

Hello,

Thanks for all of your input.

It has a bulb in there and the wiring so i'm thinking it must have to be put on the computer to enable it to work.

I think i will go to the garage and get them to enable it.

Thanks again.

I assumed the bulb was omitted as on my previous car, but bulb and wiring are identical both sides. Is it definitely a 'computer' item, not an omitted fuse?
