Brilliant advice so far. Quick question.....

The service notification that comes on when you start the car (as it is overdue a service) is there anyway to remove this?

I searched but couldn't find it. We may be selling soon and so I have serviced the car myself with use of Haines manual and have done it myself on many cars.

Or do I need someone to hook it up to the VAG computer thingy?

i reset mine last weekend following a self service (ooh-eerr-missus!)

if nemory serves me correclty it's:

ignition off

hold down the trip computer reset on the dash (not the one on the stalk)

turn igintion on

keep reset button held down about 10 seconds

screen will display " - - - -"

job done

VCDS is only needed for variable servicing.

Look in the owners manual for how to reset the service interval.

does that reset the 10.000mile interval and will flash next time a service is due?

Believe so, or in a years time, which ever is sooner.
