Here's the thing......

Featured Replies

.........had a few scratches along the rear bumper from where the previous owner had been a bit careless when loading the boot, so, had a go at polishing them out but had no success. Moved onto wet sanding, which gave the desired result. Then shock horror, I over did it on the edge (picture will explain) through to primer!!! arhhhh! Right, apart from a respray - which I was planning on anyway so no biggy - then I was thinking, my father-in-law has a 407 sw, and his has a protector across this vunerable area. After a bit of searching, all I could find was a really tacky number from Super Skoda, question is has anyone fitted something like this and if so where did they get it?

The only other opition I thought of was using some kind of vinyl graphic as a protector similar to that on the leading edge in front of the rear wheels.

Any advice would be appreciated, Lee.

I think the carbon fibre stuff looks a bit chavvy, but nice of you to reply, I was worrying that I had swine flu or something!!

you can buy a strip of ventureshield protective film for less that £20 including the post&packing. Not sure how this would compare to other types for protection but it looks neater than black plastic mouldings.

Here is a link that includes a video of how to apply it : Top of Rear Bumper Protection Film - Car Bumper Protection Film, VentureShield bumper scratch and scuff resistance.

Perfect.......if it wasn't clear! :(

2. Rear bumper cover foil

(KDX 610 001 for Octavia;

KDX 620 001 for Octavia Combi)

Thanks for the link, but I already have a boot liner with a fold out protector, what I really need is like jzc008 suggests, but available in colours to permanently hid my **** up!!:(

I'm on the lookout for a new front bumper ( :( ) so get Ebay alerts for the word 'bumper'... anyways, just had an alert through with this 'bumper sill protector' thing on it... doesn't look too bad :)

I agree, not bad, if I can find it for the estate, I could get it painted rather than the whole bumper, cheers.

I've just fitted one of these as despite the car having 500 miles on it, I'm using it as a pickup truck while I do a house renovation so it seemed sensible!!

Fitting took all of 3 minutes - wipe the bumper with an alcohol wipe, remove sticky pad protectors and press into place. Job done and looks factory fit. I reckon this is the best £35 you can spend.
