Clunking noise

Featured Replies

I have a 2006 Superb 2.5 elegance and notice that I am getting mild rattle (clunk clunk clunk) when leaning into cornering, especially to the one side. It is under Skoda warranty but this runs out beginnings of Nov. Anyone any ideas what it might be?

Also does anyone here have any experience of Tesco Warranty. I am being quoted £359 a year for their highest standard warranty, which looks good value.

For peace of mind I will buy a warranty.

Does anyone have any experience of Tesco warranty?

Thank you in advance for any replies

Check very carefully for exclusions such as "water ingress" and "diagnostic charges". With a car like the Mk1 Superb you need these more than most.

Generally, these warranties are a ripoff as are most forms of insurance. Get to know the weak spots of the design and spend a little time and money addressing them instead.

I have to say though, with a 2.5D Auto you would need all the cover you can find - but check that it covers all you really need.

I had this noise on my 2006 2.0 diesel recently noticed it first when accelarating out of a corner checked wheel nuts at first and these were ok but then the noise was even more noticable when the engine was idling. The dealer diagnosed a tension pully then the belt then as it continued after the alternator and then the pulley fly wheels before it was finally cured at a cost over over £1200! The timeframe for the noise starting to dealer was 2 days. I was 3 months out of warranty and had considered warranty direct who offered top level cover for under £300 no waiting period if purchased as manufacturers warranyt ends or 3 months if the manufacturer warranty has already expired. Wear and teat is not included and after 60,000 miles you pay 10% of the cost of replacement parts. I'm out of work so thought it worth the risk and ended up with the £1200 bill! On an elegance spec not a good decision but hindsight does not pay the bills!
