Warning Lights

Featured Replies

I have a power steering and air bag warning light glowing orange on my 56 plate Octavia II's dashboard. The lights came on after replacing a fuse for the interior lights. I ermmm.......... removed a few fuses underbonnet and from the side of the dashboard trim before I found the blown fuse.

There are a few blank positions and I may have inadvertently replaced a fuse or several in the wrong place although nothing is not working as yet except the two dashboard lights mentioned above.

Can anyone help out a silly old sod who ought to know better?

Also ensure you have all of your fuses in the correct place, there is a fuse schedule towards the back of the owners manual.

Airbag fault - reset by dealer VAS or Briskodian VCDS/VAG COM software.

There was a problem on the Octavia where the wiring under the seat to the side airbags had a dodgy connector causing the air bag light to come on.

The power steering light can go out if you start the motor and turn the streeing wheel from lock to lock.

I did have the key on when I removed the fuses, idiot that I am. I think I put them back in the correct place but only noticed that there were empty spaces after removal and could not be 100% certain which space was empty before removal. As nothing is failing to work I am assuming that all fuses are correctly replaced.

I'm due for a service soon so assume I can get the dealer to reset the Airbag light.

If it is of any help to anyone my under bonnet fuse box is the second type illustrated in the manual as issued with 56 plate Octavias; my Octy is a bog standard 1.9 DSG Diesel Ambiente, the only dealer fitted extra being a Skoda tow bar.

Talking of tow bars should I get any audible or visual indications when I am towing and using indicators because I don't and never have done with this tow bar electrics, the single socket, all in one job?

I'm sure they can... but what if they try tell you that you need a new airbag or summin? I would get it cleared by a friendly Briskodian rather than asking a dealer to do it personally...
You're probably right although this problem occured immediately I removed one fuse, which one I don't know, so I don't think it is an Air Bag fault, or at least I hope it isn't.

My thanks to VRStu who today cleared my air-bag fault light for me plus lots of other faults that I had put on by removing fuses with the ignition on, got my nearside rear fog light working and fitted Cruise Control as well. Thank you VRStu for an excellent job well done.
