Can anybody remember this Favorit Advert?

Featured Replies

I'm hoping somebody can confirm something for me. Back in about 1994/5 Skoda ran a TV advert for the favorit. I think the car in the ad. was a silverline. It was a take on the old VW adverts where a golf is dropped from above and an elederly Japanese Gent. Says something like "VW Golf, tough as old boot"

Well in this version something similar happens, only it's a Favorit and it breaks through the floor to the level below, and the said guy leans over the hole and says something witty!

I'm bieng told I made it up by a friend and I can't find a copy on youtube or anywhere else to prove otherwise!

So is it my imagination, or does anyone else remember it, and even better, know of a copy somewhere.

Whenever you I try to explain the old kids TV programme Knightmare to people most think I've made it all up in my mind. Fortunately there's reference to it on the net to make me sure I've not gone bonkers, lol. There's scans of newspaper ads on skoda-forum.com and they're usually based around Skoda's rallying successes. I seem to remember a Felicia ad with the car held up by the open doors, probably from youtube.

I wish you never mentioned that!!!

Knightmare was soooo cool!!!!

I remember it, but I am not sure if it was an advert or a spoof advert on a comedy program.

No it was definately an ad. I remember seeing it several times during ad. breaks.

Around 1994, there was also a topgear episode where clarkson test drove the "new" VW influenced favorit and said it was a fantastic buy for the money. Mind you they were testing it against a Lada Samara, lol!! In fact he was so positive about it, I remember thinking at the time VW must have bunged topgear a few quid or something!

Oddly enough a year later, clarkson again, test drove the new felicia and was scathing about it

Ah... the good old days before topgear became a **** light entertainment show aimed at the lowest common denominator :D (althhough I have to confess to still watching it :rotz:)

I also remember Knightmare, lol!! used to think it was great.
