Back to The fold, New VRS ordered..........

Featured Replies

 Hi all,

I guess I could not resist anymore, I missed my Mk1 Octy Limited Edition (White/Green one).

The Touran TDI Sport, whilst a good family car, did not match the Jabba'd Octy.

So, I ordered a new VRS today, Really good deal, 0% Finance, 15% vat discount & a good dealer discount. Had to work quickly as there is a 3% price rise 1st Oct.

The dealer has referred to it as "The Christmas Tree", here is the spec:

Octavia VRS 2.0TFSI Estate, Met Silver

Xenons

Curtain Airbags

Sunset Glass

Full Leather

Heated Seats

Maxi Dot

Front Parking Sensors

Rear Parking Sensors

Silver Roof Rails

Light Assist/Auto Windscreen Wipers/Dimming Mirror

MDI (I Pod Connector)

(Free) Full Sized Spare Wheel

Delivery is not confirmed yet but Skoda have said they will supply all cars ordered before the end of the year for the VAT reduction.

Apparently there is a change to the ESP on cars being built from next week, it has been described as an ESP+ (EDX or something similar) which allows the car to be more agile in the corners & less obtrusive, but cannot be turned off, anyone heard anything?

Obviously I cannot wait !

Guess I may be getting my choice of a christmas tree for christmas this year !

Cheers

G

Just to confirm, the 2.0tfsi is no longer used. It is the newer 2.0 tsi, and it is a beauty.

Nice spec car. I wonder if the above statement is correct and means that the Octy now gets the 'XDS' electronic system of the Golf Mk6 GTI and Leon Cupra???

Have fun with the car,

Lee

OK,

Just Checked with Skoda UK.

"All vehicles built from Week 45 (Nov 2nd) will be equipped with XDS which applies drive to the wheel with most grip when cornering giving improved agility & steering feel"

Also vehicles with DSG get a change to the Maxidot which changes the the gear indication from a dot to an arrow.

So I need my car to be built after week 45 but delivered & registered before the end of the year.................

Not sure how possible this is going to be.

clarification of XDS

OK,

Just Checked with Skoda UK.

"All vehicles built from Week 45 (Nov 2nd) will be equipped with XDS which applies downwards pressure to the inner front wheel when cornering giving improved agility & steering feel"

Also vehicles with DSG get a change to the Maxidot which changes the the gear indication from a dot to an arrow.

So I need my car to be built after week 45 but delivered & registered before the end of the year.................

Do you know if that includes week 45??

I believe so, they read from the press release & said "commencing week 45", so should do.

If you have one on order, I would get the dealer to check the build details, it will be listed there.....................

Just hoping mine gets confirmed for this year or that will be the dealbreaker, after Jan 1st, 0% disappears, so does 15% vat reduction & then there is the possibilitiy of 17.5 or 19% VAT from Jan 1st. All rolled up that will add approx 3K+ to the car & any finance charges. No longer the bargain it is now.

pity mine is week 44 then :thumbdwn:

Week 41 :thumbdwn:

I assume that it is not just a change to the traction control software, and that there some hardware mods.

This all sounds rather worrying - if as the above implies it could jump by £3k+. I ordered mine 3 weeks ago and there was no guarantee it would be here by the end of the year. There was never an indication that all the deals would be off it that was the case. Anybody got some clearer info - sounds like I need to get in touch with my dealer

If you are taking the 0% deal, the dealer told me I would be 'price protected' since it's all tied into the finance deal.

If you are not taking finance, it could jump.

Still, mine now exists, somewhere. It has a chassis number.

Straight from the Skoda website....

Don't forget the small print

Retail sales only. Indemnities may be required. Subject to status. Available for over 18's for registrations before 31st December 2009. Škoda Finance, Freepost Škoda Finance.

Subject to vehicle availability. Offer may be varied or withdrawn at any time

Apparently there is a planning meeting at Skoda this week to prioritise the cars required for the end of the year that are pre-sold:thumbup:

Its a poor mans LSD. Depends if you're into that sort of thing. I personally think its a cracking idea but.............I would like the option of switching the thing off :D

I have found it pretty hard to unsettle the car in normal or spirited driving..I wouldnt like to think how hard I would have to be pushing on public roads to actually need this!

It would also depend on how well its software worked if you couldnt turn it off

its a moot point for me though as mine was built in week 37

Is this XDS system for petrol VRS or will it also be on the diesel

VW only have it for the GTi and not GTD

Oh you can unstick one of these if you try!!

I really don't like "driver aids" you can't turn off. It's so "nanny state" - I want to have the choice to screw things up should I so wish and it really gauls me when manufacturers don't give you the option. My mate didn't spec ESP on his Panda 100hp because it wasn't defeatable. It made EVO magazine complain when they drove it!

That said, I have no doubt it will save many people from sticking it in the hedge!

Skoda did not ask if mine was petrol or diesel, so maybe they make no distinction.

Give Skoda UK a call & they will rustle bits of paper whilst they check:rolleyes:
